South Gippsland
Stay: @riverdrivemotel is located in Tarwin Lower, about 2 hours out of Melbourne but is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the South Gippsland area with Venus Bay 10 minutes away, Walkerville 15 minutes and Wilson’s Prom about an hour away. It’s not your average motel at all with beautiful and modern interiors (hello mustard with white piping couch and pink bathroom) but also plenty of space on-site including an outdoor barbecue area and garden where you can hang out as well as a communal shed where you’ll find extra supplies like: an ice machine (which is perfect for cold drinks and fishing), beach towels, eskies, and extra fridge, barbeque utensils, kids games, sunscreen and insect repellant. The barbecue is perfect for meals outside, though the kitchenette in your room is very well equipped.

Produce:
@flockstockandbasil in Tarwin Lower is a great nearby farm gate open on Saturdays where you can pick up some in season fruits and veggies as well as some great local eggs and meats. I picked up the most delicious pork ribs that I ended cooking back at @riverdrivemotel’s barbeque.
@paddlewheel_farmersmarketstore in Koonwarra for beautiful produce sourced from local farms. You might be more familiar with their @paddlewheelprahran stall.
Explore:
Venus Bay Beaches: 10 minutes away and a great spot to walk, have fish and chips (from @agapifishandchips) or even try your luck at catching pippies (just make sure you’ve purchased a recreational fishing licence first)

Walkerville South Beach: beautiful sand, rock pools and a cave which at low tide you can walk through and get a glimpse of Bird Rock. There’s a few other beaches in the area that are worth a visit too.
Meeniyan: a cute nearby town that you can stop in for a bite at places like @moosatmeeniyan @pandesalbakery @trulli_kitchen. A cute strip of shops too.
